Modern cinema has changed a lot from the decades in the past century. With the visual effects taking a big lot in the overall budget the application/performance of various techniques is critical to the success of the movies.
Motion capture is a technique used to capture literally the movement of a person and use to animate objects or other animated characters in a movie. Basically the motion capture techniques records facial, leg, hand and body movements but not the appearance of the person which is later processed and replaced with the animation character. There are several equipments used for this purpose along with camera.
Even though from the designer’s point of motion capture provides the best choice to go for, the cost associated with its equipment does not allow small budget programs to utilize this technique. That could be the reason why mega budget animation movies use these techniques.
